Data Center and UPS Battery Application
Data Center Overview:
Data Center is a global collaborative network of specific equipment used to transmit, accelerate, display, calculate and store data information on the Internet infrastructure. Most electronic components in data centers are driven by low DC power.
The emergence of data centers has caused people to move from a quantitative and structured world to an uncertain and unstructured world. It will gradually become a part of the infrastructure of modern society like transportation and network communications, and will have a positive impact on many industries. However, the development of data centers cannot be based on experience alone, but must be truly combined with practice to enable data centers to play a real role in value and promote rapid social change.
The following mainly introduces the application of UPS batteries in data centers
UPS Overview:
UPS, or uninterruptible power supply, is an uninterruptible power supply with an energy storage device. It is mainly used to provide uninterruptible power supply to some equipment that requires high power stability.
When the mains input is normal, the UPS stabilizes the mains and supplies it to the load. At this time, the UPS is an AC voltage stabilizer, and it also charges the battery inside the machine; when the mains power is interrupted (power outage), the UPS immediately switches the DC power of the battery to the load through the inverter switching method to continue to supply 220V or 380V AC power to the load, so that the load maintains normal operation and protects the load software and hardware from damage. UPS equipment usually provides protection against overvoltage or undervoltage.
In data centers, a parallel redundant UPS system composed of a single double-conversion UPS is generally used. When the data center load is powered by dual power supplies, a parallel redundant UPS is used to form a dual-bus UPS power supply system.
The following uses the lithium battery UPS of Kehua Data Center as an example.
Features of lithium battery UPS:
The lithium battery UPS system, combined with the high energy density of lithium iron phosphate batteries, small footprint, long service life, high safety performance, and convenient operation and maintenance methods, can provide high-quality power supply guarantee for data centers, IT computer rooms, and major critical loads in the fields of communications, IT, etc.
Features of lithium battery
The number of charge and discharge cycles can reach 5,000 times, and the service life can reach 10 years. The BMS battery management system has perfect protection functions (short circuit, overcurrent, overcharge, overdischarge, overtemperature, etc.)
The lithium battery UPS system has three-level protection control. UPS and BMS realize full monitoring of the dual lithium battery backup system
The PACK module is standardized and can be freely combined. The volume and weight are 1/3 of the lead-acid battery, which is more suitable for space-constrained application scenarios
In addition to lithium-ion UPS for data centers, backup and online UPS are also commonly used, mainly used in government, education, finance, communications, insurance, transportation, taxation, securities, and other fields. These fields still mainly use lead-acid batteries for energy storage applications
